CryptoThrift, a website where users can auction items off for Bitcoin and Litecoin, has rebranded to Bitify. Trading for almost 2 years, the site claims to have nearly 50,000 users and several thousand items listed for sale. Based in Sydney, Australia, the company is registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
In a blog post, Bitify reports continued growth over its first two years of operation, with over 200% organic growth in the last year alone. However, in order to go mainstream and foster further growth, “we need to build upon that platform and prepare ourselves for the rising popularity of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency technology.” By changing their branding scheme to Bitify, they are better explaining what their company does to new customers in one word, which is the first step in preparing for mainstream adoption of Bitcoin.
Bitify is aiming to make the transition as painless as possible, so as not to disrupt or jar any existing customers. Existing URLs to CryptoThrift as well as the domain will automatically forward to Bitify, and existing CryptoThift email addresses will remain active as well. Support IRC channel has changed to #bitify, but they will maintain support on #cryptothrift until 2016. Lastly, social media changes are already in progress and will continue to transition in the coming weeks.
Bitify also has goals to improve the site overall, making it easier to use. Introducing better tools for sellers, improving navigation of the site, increasing security, and providing better customer service are all part of Bitify’s plans for the near future.
