Bitmain Launches New Energy Efficient Bitcoin Mining Machine

Bitmain Launches New Energy Efficient Bitcoin Mining Machine

Bitmain has revealed that it’s building a new liquid cooling bitcoin (BTC) mining rig that boasts the best power efficiency than its previous crypto mining machines. Dubbed the Antminer S19 XP Hyd, the firm claims its new ASIC miner packs a computing power of 255 terahash per second (TH/s) at 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T) of power efficiency, running on 5,304 watts, according to reports on March 14, 2022.

Bitmain’s Antminer S19 XP Hyd

Barely two months after announcing the launch of the Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd, which comes with a hashrate of 198 terahash per second (TH/s), at a power consumption of 5445 watts and power efficiency of 27.5 joules per terahash (TH), plus the latest liquid cooling technology, Bitmain is rolling out yet another high-performance ASIC miner.

Per sources close to the latest development,  Bitmain Technologies Ltd, one of the largest manufacturers of bitcoin mining hardware in the world, has launched another high-end ASIC miner called the Antminer S19 XP Hyd.

Packed with 255 terahash/second (TH/s) of computing power at 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T) of power efficiency, with an energy consumption rate of 5,304 watts, Bitmain has made it clear that the Antminer S19 XP Hyd is currently its most energy-efficient miner and crypto miners can purchase it for a whopping $19,890 per piece.

In comparison, Bitmain’s previous best product, the Antminer S19 XP offers 140 TH/s at 21.5 J/T and costs $11,620 per piece.

Just like the S19 Pro+ Hyd miner, the new Antminer S19 XP Hyd comes with a hydro cooling system and it’s expected to ship during the first quarter of 2023.

Notably, Bitmain has also announced the launch of a new bitcoin mining container known as the ANTSPACE HK3, which can comfortably house 210 mining machines, and the container itself consumes up to 1 megawatt of power.

Bitmain says its latest energy-efficient miners can only be used alongside containers built by it.

Energy Efficient Mining Solutions Essential

At a time when the energy consumption of proof-of-work (PoW) based cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin (BTC) and others have become a serious topic of debate in various jurisdictions around the globe, with Kosovo the latest country to outlaw crypto mining, the need for clean, energy-efficient mining has become quite essential and stakeholders in the industry are working round the clock to make bitcoin mining as power-efficient as possible.

Last October, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Block Inc (formerly Square) hinted that the company was considering building an open-source bitcoin mining system based on custom silicon, to lower the barrier to entry for both business and individuals.

In a tweet thread earlier in January, Thomas Templeton Block’s general manager for hardware reiterated that the proposed system will foster bitcoin mining efficiency and more.

“We want to make mining more distributed and efficient in every way, from buying, to set up, to maintenance, to mining. We’re interested because mining goes far beyond creating new bitcoin. We see it as a long-term need for a future that is fully decentralized and permissionless,” he tweeted.

In related news, crypto.news reported on March 8, 2022, that Hive Blockchain, has reached an agreement with Intel for the purchase of the latter’s newly launched energy-efficient blockchain accelerators dubbed Bonanza Mine.
