Cyprian Hospital Commences COVID-19 Vaccination with VeChain (VET) Solution
Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus has successfully vaccinated some of its staff against the COVID-19 virus, including 100 doctors and personnel. The process was carried out via the VeChain-powered E-HCert COVID-19 solution, according to a blog post on January 5, 2020.
Conquering COVID-19 with VeChain (VET)
As the world keep working hard to conquer the COVID-19 pandemic, with countries like Russia, Guinea and some others already vaccinating their citizens, while the United Kingdom and the U.S. are still pondering on the best way to tackle the deadly scourge, Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus has hit a major breakthrough with its blockchain-based COVID-19 solution.
Specifically, the Meditteranean Hospital of Cyprus, which was established in July 2013 by Dr Andreas Panayiotou, has announced that it has successfully given 100 doctors and personnel in its hospital their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of January 4, 2021.
It will be recalled that last December, reports emerged that the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus adopted the VeChain (VET) and I-Dante co-developed COVID-19 RT-PCR and antibody test records system.
Now, the Hospital has made it clear that the COVID-19 vaccination records of the vaccinated staff and personnel have been successfully stored on the VeChain distributed ledger, to foster transparency and make the sensitive information tamper-proof.

VeChain (VET) Tackling the Scourge
Notably, the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus claims to have an open-minded approach as compared to traditional hospital operating models and it’s the first hospital in Cyprus to offer a DLT-enabled data management platform.
The hospital declared:
“This is a great step towards a return to normalcy. Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus also announces that these 100 people received a digital certificate for their vaccination on their E-HCert App, marking another step towards digital transformation of the healthcare industry via VeChainThor Blockchain.”
It’s worthy of note that VeChain’s blockchain technology is gaining significant traction in the healthcare industry, as well as other sectors of the global economy.
In May 2019 VeChain (VET) partnered with Bayer China, a China-based pharmaceutical heavyweight, in a bid to develop cSecure, a blockchain-based Clinical Trial Traceability platform.
More recently, in November 2020, Health Evolution, a U.S.-based supplements manufacturer adopted VeChain to tackle counterfeiting.
At press time, the price of VeChain (VET) is up by 14.30 percent, trading at $0.025906, with a market cap of $1.66 billion, as seen on CoinMarketCap.
