Say “Goodbye” to Expensive Roaming Costs and “Hello” to Cheaper Smart Contracts as Top Experts Join the Bubbletone Team
If Bubbletone’s founder and CEO, Yuri Morozov, has anything to say about it, the world of roaming mobile telecommunications is about to crumble. And Morozov definitely has a lot to say. But he’s not alone. He’s assembled a team of top-notch advisors with deep credentials in the telecom and crypto spheres to aid him in his quest to revolutionize mobile roaming as we know it. Late in January the company welcomed internationally renowned crypto guru and TechCrunch co-founder, Keith Teare to their advisory board. “I have made it my life’s work to seek out and support ambitious new projects, and I have always focused on the point at which change is happening,” says Teare. “It’s my opinion that the massive global roaming market is ripe for major reforms, and Bubbletone’s blockchain platform will bring the much-needed change into telecom technology.”
Also joining the Bubbletone advisory team are top-five world blockchain advisor, Anders Larsson, along with telecom expert Joakim Holmer and Dr. Norman Lewis, a prominent future trends and user innovation expert. The new advisors join the company with an impressive array of expertise and experience in the telecom and blockchain worlds. Joakim Holmer is a co-founder of AllcoinWiki, “the true source of crypto” and worked for the Ericsson Group for over 15 years. He has built digital mobile networks all over the world. “Roaming fees have always been and still are destructive for the whole industry,” he argues. “Finally a great project like Bubbletone takes on the task to disrupt the industry. We are strong supported and honored to be hired as Trusted Advisors to the great project.”
Holmer is joined by his AllcoinWiki co-founder Anders Larsson, who also worked with Ericsson Group and has over 20 years’ experience developing the emerging technologies of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and IoT in ten different countries. For Larsson, joining the team was personal. “Seeing that blockchain can fix roaming was enough to decide that I want to help Bubbletone with advice, wherever I can. I feel it is important for the competitiveness of the entire telecom industry, or my home industry that I love will end up losing market share to Wi-Fi,” he says. “In short, this is something I look forward to using myself. That yardstick has served me well all my life.”
Dr. Norman Lewis has been a long-time critic of traditional telecommunications and is a natural ally to Morozov’s way of thinking. The telecom expert has been Director of Technology Research at Orange UK and was an executive board member of MIT’s Communications Futures Program. Lewis has expressed frustration in the past about telcos’ lack of modernization, going so far as to charge the industry itself with stifling innovation Dr. Lewis believes any pressure to change in the past has come from the advances in internet telephony. That’s why he is jumping on board with Bubbletone, because he believes that blockchain technology will usher in the next telecom revolution.
With 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, Morozov has recognized for some time that traditional mobile roaming service around the world is inefficient, overpriced, and effectively operates as a monopoly that keeps small- and medium-sized service providers out of the market. So Morozov and his development team, who can already claim success in the industry with their popular mobile app that allows customers to access local plans during travel with no roaming fees, set about to change the global telecom world using blockchain technology. The Bubbletone platform aims to circumvent these types of exclusionary hurdles by allowing operators to offer local service at competitive prices, all enabled by smart-contracts through blockchain technology.
According to Morozov, the roaming business today is like a private club; to gain access you have to pay some serious dues, in the tens of millions of dollars. Then without fail you will be asked how many clients you bring to the roaming market. “After all, if you are not a monopoly player in your own territory, then you can hardly guarantee a large volume of tourists to operators in other countries,” he points out. For Morozov, his team of advisors are crucial for ensuring that this outdated system is finally overturned. “Keith, Joakim, Anders and Norman all bring many years of research and experience in both telecom and blockchain innovation. They will hold our feet to the fire to ensure that we are creating the best product that will truly change the global telecom landscape, and because they come from various backgrounds, they will help us structure our product so that it truly meets the needs of our potential users worldwide,” says Morozov.
