nWay Video Games Developer Adopts Blockchain Technology
nWay, a leading video games developer and publisher and creators with titles such as Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, Legacy Wars, and others have introduced a new blockchain-based monetization system. The system allows developers to integrate nWayPlay Tokens into their games which can be earned by players in-game, reports GamesIndustry.biz on August 6, 2019.
nWay to Reward Players with Cryptos
In a bid to incentivize game players, publishers, as well as developers in the nWay ecosystem, nWay, has announced the introduction of a blockchain-based monetization system.
Per the team, the new system leverages distributed ledger technology (DLT) to provide a monetization solution beneficial to both developers on the nWay platform, as well as game players.
With the new system, developers on nWay can now integrate nWayPlay Tokens and other Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) into their games, and the team says these digital assets can be earned by players in-game, stored in a crypto wallet, and then exchanged by players across the nWay marketplace.
Rewarding Competitive Gamers
At a time when forward-thinking game platforms are increasingly joining the blockchain bandwagon, nWay CEO, Taehoon Kim says the firm is determined to provide users with a game development platform that takes care of the traditional backend needs of developers while also allowing game makers to easily integrate blockchain technology into their projects.
This way, nWay games will continually meet the needs of competitive game players and remain relevant for a long time to come.
“We strongly believe this will allow games created on nWayPlay platform to run game economies in a far more flexible way, allowing value to flow in many ways instead of only player-to-publisher as it has always been.”
The team also expects the integration of blockchain-based tokens into nWay games to spur players to invest more time and money into becoming better players, which in turn will make developers more successful.
The team says the primary aim of the nWayPlay platform is to provide server and backend solutions for developers of online multiplayer games that make use of real-time cross-platform play.
nWayPlay says it has inked deals with some alpha partners already and it’s looking forward to on-boarding more partners before its planned launch later this year.
While blockchain technology has shown it can potentially revolutionize various industries across the globe, from supply chain to sports, down to arts and entertainment, the gaming ecosystem is fast catching the DLT bug also. It’s only a matter of time before the entire gaming industry adopts cryptos.
