Po.et, a decentralized protocol for publishers and content creators

The startup’s co-founder and CEO, Jarrod Dicker, made an update to the community where he announced the next phase of development of the platform where it aims to reach a new level in both technical and conceptual maturity.

Po.et is a decentralized protocol for content ownership, discovery and monetization in media that is building an open, universal ledger capable of recording immutable and timestamped information about creative content. It uses specific open protocols which are designed for interoperability with current industry standards in media and publishing.

Po.et’s next phase

According to the blog post, for the past 16 months, the Po.et team has been holding meetings and engaging with publishers and content creators to try and understand what matters most to them and where they see Po.et in the technology ecosystem.

Having this, in mind the team is pushing hard with Po.et’s maturity while it tries to leverage the fundamental concepts that drive proof of existence by introducing new and additional layer functionalities on top of the Bitcoin network.

Jarrod Dicker joins the Washington Post

In the update, the startup’s CEO, Jarrod Dicker also disclosed that he will be joining the Washington Post. Dicker’s new role will mainly be focused on pushing growth by using innovative techniques across advertising, as well as subscriptions and technologies related to engineering and revenue. Nevertheless, in his new position, Dicker will continue to collaborate.

Handing Over

David Turner, Po.et’s Head of Product is noted as one of the community members who contributed the most to the development of the platform, and he will be the one taking the reigns of the startup.

Dicker refers to David has one of the pillars for the startup development throughout the past year, and as such, he is certain David will continue to push the platform forward making it a vehicle that enables a better web. David will ensure that the community protocol is driven by the community itself and helps to develop the right tools making it for builders to structure the protocol to take out the most of it.

Dicker affectionately writes:

“Each of you reading this has made a tremendous impact on my life and I’m very thankful for the time I’ve had in this role. I’m ready for the next chapter in how I can personally contribute to Po.et because I know there is so much to do for us to change the media world.”

Dicker believes that the continued work needs to slow down to focus on the “long road to adoption”; While Po.et has tried to develop its protocol at full speed, Dicker thinks that the future of the startup now needs to pin down its aim and avoid failure.
