Summer 2021 Climax: Cometh to Host Blockchain Esport Event With $150K Cash Prize
Cometh is pleased to present the Polygon Grand Prix, a three-stage e-sports competition powered by the Polygon blockchain where thousands of players compete for unique NFT collectibles and crypto tokens in an exciting player-versus-player tournament. With a total of $150,000 in prizes to be given away, this event is the first and largest of its kind.
Within five months of live on Polygon, Cometh’s groundbreaking DeFi and gaming applications led to the creation of over 4,000 yield-generating spaceship NFTs that were traded over the Polygon bridge on the Ethereum mainnet. The bridge processed over four million transactions and 2,000 peer-to-peer smart contracts and also distributed over $400,000 to the players during these five months.
Cometh and Polygon are now taking things to the next level. In 2021, the e-sports gaming space grew almost 50% to over $1 billion. With advanced blockchain-powered capabilities, smart contracts, and decentralization, Cometh is bridging decentralized gaming space and the growing e-sports space to create new, viable income streams for players.
The best way to help people understand blockchain is to help them enjoy its benefits. In June, Cometh released a simple and intuitive onboarding strategy to the public in which newcomers could create a wallet and obtain a special edition NFT and the tokens needed to interact with applications on Polygon.
The Grand Prix event is a culmination of these efforts and many other initiatives by Cometh and Polygon to bring blockchain – and the income-generating benefits of blockchain – to the masses. Cometh’s Galactic Academy helps new blockchain users acquire skills needed for the new digital age, such as token swaps, liquidity mining, and crypto economics, and a dedicated Cometh playground will engage them with ~$1000 in MATIC, MUST, and ComethSwap LP tokens per batch of new players.
The best players are then invited to the Polygon Galactic Cup to compete against better players and to try their luck for bigger and bigger prizes, and the traction that the project and the competition have so far received show just how much potential and how viable online gaming and gaming-based earnings can be.
Key dates for the Grand Prix series of events are as follows:
– July 10, the Polygon Galactic Cup, in which 4,000 players compete for $40,000 in prizes.
– July 17, the Polygon Galactic Trophy, in which 1,500 players – including 500 winners from the Galactic Cup – will compete for $50,000 in prizes.
– July 25, the Polygon Galactic Grand Prix, in which 300 players, including 100 winners of the Galactic Trophy, compete for $60,000 in prizes.
